On Friday 4th December, a group of 14 AS Politics students put our local MP, Simon Burns through his political paces in the first annual 'Boswells Question Time' hosted by Ms Grover and Mr Bell. In September the school introdcued this new A Level subject to take the number of Humanities Skill Area A Levels offered to 7 (in addtion to History, RE, Geography, Law, Psychology and Sociology). As part of the new A Level our students need to be able to analyse the nature of democracy in the UK as well as understanding the role and functions of Members of Parliament. As part of the morning, Simon Burns spent 90 minutes with the group as they asked him a series of highly challenging political questions. The questions ranged from quizzing Mr Burns on his expenses claims, parliamentary voting record, general political beliefs, as well as the ideas of David Cameron. The students will meet with Mr Burns later in the academic year when we will be visiting the House of Commons as part of our course.
